This Singer has the serial number 16842, which indicates it was built in or close to 1882. It has a very interesting spring, typical of Singer. It looks very original, except for the grips, they are supposed to be like this.
It also features the first model of the Singer detachable handlebars. With its fluted hollow forks, double ball bearings at the front and single ball bearings at the rear, it was the top of the line Singer in those days.
